What's a 1 Metre Challenge?

The 1m challenge is a really good way to make sure you get the most for your money when ordering clothing from Fox & Bobbin. When you order, you pick your choice of any of my available prints. For £70, you get 1m of your chosen print, plus any matching co-ordinates and notions needed, and the challenge is for me to get as many items out of that meter (in the sizes you specify) as is humanly possible. Any scraps that aren’t big enough to be made into clothing are then turned into other items such as reusable wipes and breast pads, and once I’m left with only tiny amounts of scrap, they’re used as stuffing in my reusable sponges, making them zero waste! I guarantee that you will receive £70 or more* worth of items in your 1m challenge, otherwise I will happily refund the difference or add in extra items to make it up. 1m challenge orders regularly go into the £80-90 price range, and sometimes into the triple figures!

*value based on RRP of items made, not including any discounts/sales.

What's "Cloth Friendly Clothing"?

“Cloth Friendly” for me means that a) the clothes will fit over cloth nappies, and b) they’re cut and manufactured in a way that means as little as possible goes to waste.

All of my clothing (and indeed other items) are designed to be as eco-friendly as humanly possible. To ensure that I’m leaving as little carbon footprint as possible whilst making your items, I use the following techniques:
– I use a projector to cut patterns out, instead of traditional paper patterns – this means no paper waste!
– I use all fabrics as economically as possible – pattern pieces are placed as closely as can be to avoid unnecessary waste, and any waste created is often reused in other products
– waste fabric pieces which are large enough will be made into reusable face wipes or other eco friendly items
– waste fabric pieces which are not large enough to do this with are turned into stuffing for scrubbies (aka un-sponge)
– all orders are packed using either recycled and/or recyclable items – even my business cards are made from recycled materials!
– your items will arrive in packaging which is totally recyclable - either reuse for posting items, or use your usual curbside recycling service!

If you’d like to learn more about my process of manufacture, please send me an email katie@foxandbobbin.co.uk

How does the Subscription Service work?

STEP 1: Choose your frequency to suit your budget. You can choose to get a 1m Challenge every 3 or 6 months and spread the cost accordingly

STEP 2: Choose your print. Your fabric will be custom printed just for you*

STEP 3: Customise your items. Once your fabric arrives, I will send you a list of questions where you can choose things like size(s), co-ordinating colours, item preferences and styles

STEP 4: Get your brand new handmade clothing in the post!

STEP 5: Repeat! You get new clothing sewn for your little one each season

BONUS STEP: I also run a Pre-Loved scheme where you can send outgrown items back to me in exchange for money off your next order (or monthly payment - your choice!)

*Fabric printing takes a while - please be aware that your 1 metre challenge will arrive approximately 8-10 weeks after your first monthly payment

What prints are available on the subscription service?

My whole back catalogue of prints from collections old and new, PLUS some brand new subscription only prints too! If you want to see them, click on the Available Prints tab at the top of the page

How long will I have to wait for my items?

Approximately 8-10 weeks. All fabric for the subscription service is custom printed for your order, so once you subscribe I send your chosen print to the print factory. This process takes a little while, usually 6-8 weeks, before it arrives with me, then I need a little extra time to make your items up for you!

All items are handmade by myself in England, so they take a little longer than mass-produced items to arrive, but I promise they're worth the wait!

Either way, your 1 Metre Challenge will be with you by the time you finish paying it off (either 3 payments or 6 depending on your choice at checkout)

What's the Pre-Loved; Re-Loved scheme?

Ah, you've come across another way I like to help my customers get the most out of their money!

Pre-Loved; Re-Loved is my new closed loop system for my clothing! When your littles have outgrown their Fox & Bobbin clothing, you can now send it back to me and in exchange you’ll get a code for money off your next purchase*. Once I’ve received the Pre-Loved items, I’ll make any repairs that need doing, launder and press them, photograph them and sell them on to someone else to love, and so on, and so on (see the loop?)… Once the clothing is too loved to be sold on again (we all know it happens eventually, although hopefully not for a while) it will be cut up to make things like wipes and stuffing for scrubbies – nothing will get wasted on my watch- I promise!

*up to 40% of RRP value, depending on condition of items. Not exchangable for cash. You may choose to use your code on either the main website (singular items) OR on your next subscription

Can I see a Price List for your other items?

You sure can! Head over to my main website, https://www.foxandbobbin.co.uk/faqs/ to see the full RRP price list, and some beautiful items!

How will I know what size my child will be?

Don't panic! When you subscribe, you won't be asked straight away for your size preference - just your print choice (so I can send it to the printers). This is because I KNOW those kiddos have nasty habits of growing unexpectedly! Once your fabric has arrived with me, I will send you an email with a whole bunch more questions, including size(s), preferred styles and more! You'll also get a size chart so you can measure your littles and know their clothing will fit perfectly.

What makes the 1 Metre Challenge zero waste?

In short, all the fabric is used up for something or other!

First of all, I cut as many items out of your metre of fabric as possible

Secondly, any pieces of fabric too small to make clothing are turned into things like reusable wipes, scrunchies and scrubbies

Third and finally, any scraps of fabric too small to make into these items are shredded up and used as stuffing for my scrubbies (non-sponge)
