WHAT IS THE 1 METRE CHALLENGE?
In short, it's 1 metre of your chosen print, and the challenge is for me to make as many items out of it in your chosen size(s) as possible!
The slightly longer answer? It's an amazing way to get the most out of your money whilst shopping for handmade clothing for your children! Sound like it's for you? Keep reading for more information!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
STEP 1: Choose your frequency to suit your budget. You can choose to get a 1 Metre Challenge every 3 or 6 months and spread the cost accordingly
STEP 2: Choose your print. Your fabric will be custom printed just for you*
STEP 3: Customise your items. Once your fabric arrives, I will send you a list of questions where you can choose things like size(s), co-ordinating colours, item preferences and styles
STEP 4: Get your brand new handmade clothing in the post!
STEP 5: Repeat! You get new clothing sewn for your little one each season
BONUS STEP: I also run a Pre-Loved scheme where you can send outgrown items back to me in exchange for money off your next order (or monthly payment - your choice!)
*Fabric printing takes a while - please be aware that your 1 metre challenge will arrive around the time of your 3rd-4th payment

The 1 Metre Challenge includes your metre of fabric, up to 2 co-ordinating plain colours, and any notions and extras needed to make your items (like poppers, elastic, and bamboo towelling for wipes). The price also includes fair wages for a small business owner like me, as well as free postage!
Each 1 Metre Challenge is unique and created especially for you, but you will receive a detailed breakdown of what you've got, and the RRP value of the items
It costs £70 to buy upfront, and the subscription service is a great way to spread the cost! Available from as little as £12/month, you can choose to receive your items every 3 or 6 months.
SPEAKING OF VALUE...
The 1 Metre Challenge costs £70 to buy upfront, and the subscription service is a great way to spread the cost!
As with the Original 1 Metre Challenge, the Subscription Service comes with the guarantee to BEAT the value you paid for it! Which means, in short, you're guaranteed to get over £70 worth of items!
How much more? Well, that depends on the items and sizes, but they almost always go into the £80-90s bracket, and quite regularly into the triple figures!
My current record value for a 1 Metre Challenge is a whopping £152!!
WHAT MAKES IT ECO FRIENDLY?
Fox & Bobbin is an eco friendly business! I started off selling reusable wipes, and branched out into cloth friendly clothing!
All of my clothing (and indeed other items) are designed to be as eco-friendly as humanly possible. To ensure that I’m leaving as little carbon footprint as possible whilst making your items, I use the following techniques:
– I use a projector to cut patterns out, instead of traditional paper patterns – this means no paper waste!
– I use all fabrics as economically as possible – pattern pieces are placed as closely as can be to avoid unnecessary waste, and any waste created is often reused in other products
– waste fabric pieces which are large enough will be made into reusable face wipes or other eco friendly items
– waste fabric pieces which are not large enough to do this with are turned into stuffing for scrubbies (aka un-sponge)
– all orders are packed using either recycled and/or recyclable items – even my business cards are made from recycled material!
WHAT ABOUT ZERO WASTE?
Well, the 1 Metre Challenge in particular is a zero waste product!
First of all, I cut as many items out of your metre of fabric as possible
Secondly, any pieces of fabric too small to make clothing are turned into things like reusable wipes, scrunchies and scrubbies
Third and finally, any scraps of fabric too small to make into these items are shredded up and used as stuffing for my scrubbies (non-sponge)
